Type Locality and Naming

Along the Buzdon ridge, Central Kyzylkum, P.N. Podkopaev et al. in 1962 (457, pp. 124-125).

Synonym: South Bozdon Suite, Южнобоздонская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Dark gray clayey limestones with layers of siltstone (aleurolites) and cherts. Thickness 112-362m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It lies conformably on the Madaniyat Fm

Upper contact

It is conformably overlain by the Auliekudzhumdin Fm.

Regional extent

It is an age equivalent of the Iza Fm in Aristantau.

Contains conodonts Polygnathus inversus Klapp. et John., P. costatus Klapp., P. gronbergi Klapp. et John. and others; Tentaculites - Nowakia ex gr. barrandei Bouč. et Prantl., Veriatellina gracilistriata (Hall.) and others.


Age 

Emsian-lower Eifelian (165; 495). Yu.A. Likhachev et al. (266) included it in the composition of the Muruntau Fm, which combined all carbonate rocks of the Middle Devonian in Central Kyzylkum.
